Description and Uses: Our organic Tuberose Absolute is pure undiluted Tuberose Oil extracted by Enfleurage. Most Tuberose absolute is extracted by chemical solvents. Ours is most rare and comes from a small grower/extractor in South America. The entire process of extracting the oil it done by hand using no heat and no chemical solvents. Pure local palm oil is used to absorb the aromatic oils from the flower petals and once the palm oil is completely saturated with the essence of the flower then it is separated from the Tuberose oil by cane sugar alcohol which is then evaporated to leave only the Tuberose oil. The process is quite labor intensive and requires many pounds of flower petals per ml of oil but the results are astounding. If you close your eyes and inhale the aroma of the oil, it cannot be differentiated from the actual flower. For a more complete description of the extraction process, go to our web page: Enfleurage

More Info:
Tuberose is one of the most precious oils in the world and is renouned for its' mesmerizing aroma and fragrance. During the extraction process, fresh, fully opened flowers are plucked from the tuberose plant and carefully laid on trays covered with a layer of palm oil. The essential oils from the flower petals slowly migrate to the palm oil and the process is repeated until the palm oil is completely saturated with the oil of the Tuberose. Then the Tuberose oil is separated from the palm oil by alcohol which then evaporated leaving only the pure Tuberose oil, i.e., Tuberose Absolute.
The heavy, sometimes slightly spicy, tenacious and sweet-floral fragrance of the Tuberose flower is quite distinct from all others. Perfumes using Tuberose are considered to be quite fabulous and are very expensive. The unique aroma of Tuberose can rejuvenate the mind and body and Tuberose's magical fragrance is also considered to have powers as an aphrodisiac. In India it is called "Mistress of the Night". Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa) is native to Central America. Aztec healers called it omixochitl (bone-flower) due to the waxy, luminous white flowers. In Ayurvedic tradition, tuberose is also known to stimulate serenity, creativity and psychic powers and is used to increase capacity for emotional depth by opening the crown chakra. Tuberose is also said to increase artistic inspiration as it stimulates creativity and brings serenity to the mind and heart. Additionally, it possesses powerful anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory healing properties as well.
Tuberose cannot be distilled like most essential oils due to the delicate nature of the flowers. Enfleurage was the traditional method of extraction used in ancient Egypt and into the early 20th century but solvent extraction using hexane has virtually replaced enfleurage, except, of course, for our own Tuberose Absolute. Solvent extracted Tuberose is used extensively by the perfume industry but, again, not by us (no chemicals are used to extract the Tuberose that we sell). Either method (enfleurage or solvent extraction) is time consuming and oil yields are quite small for the amount of materials used. Over 3500 pounds of blossoms are needed to produce 1 pound of the absolute which is why Tuberose Absolute is one of the most expensive oils on earth, even more than most rose attars. Tuberose is frequently combined with jasmine and orange blossom in perfumery.
In traditional Hawaian wedding ceremoniesTuberose flowers are worn as a wreath around the head of the bride.
Aphrodisiac: Known by its romantic and sensual names “Night Queen” and “Mistress of the Night”, Tuberose behaves as an aphrodisiac and its very strong, intense and intoxicating floral fragrance fills the air and creates an atmosphere of love. Tuberose oil is found to be very effective in treating frigidity and lack of libido etc. Specific components of this essential oil stimulate those parts of the brain which are responsible for arousals, sexual feelings and libido. It also relaxes the mind and relieves tension and has a warming effect on the organs as it increases circulation of blood which in turn helps cure erectile dysfunctions, impotency etc.
Deodorant: Tuberose Absolute is world famous for its use in perfumes and the rich, intense and long lasting floral fragrance is an ideal choice for a deodorant and that is why it is so popular in the countries with hot and humid climate, as they have to deal with sweat and resultant body odor.
Relaxing: The pleasant fragrance and some components of this oil have relaxing effects on the brain, nerves and the muscles. It calms down and gives relief from stress, tension, anxiety, depression, anger, nervous afflictions, convulsions, cramps, spasmodic coughs and diarrhoea etc.
Sedative: This essential oil is good in sedating inflammations, particularly pertaining to nervous system and the respiratory system. But to have this sedating effect, it should be used in good dilution.
Warming: Tuberose Essential Oil stimulates and increases blood circulation in the body thereby inducing a warming effect. This effect counters feeling of cold in winters, keeps the respiratory system warm and prevents deposition of phlegm and catarrh, increases activity and also helps cure sexual disorders.
